Newyork city marathon 2023 : Amazing lineup at start
The lineup at the start of the Newyork city marathon 2023 is one of the strongest for the women’s race. The women’s record which has not been broken for the last 20 years can go down on Sunday 5th November 2023. Defending champion will face a tough task to keep the title in her kitty with as she will compete against Boston Marathon winner Hellen Obiri, former Olympic gold medalist and 2021 New York champion Peres Jepchirchir and former marathon world-record holder Brigid Kosgei. Lokedi said she is very excited to be back at the marathon and last year was life changing for her. She was very happy that her mother has flown from Kenya to be with her at the finishing line.
There is also an additional bonus of $50,000 for anyone who will break the course record of 2:22:31 hrs which was set by Margaret Okayo in 2003.
Lokedi from Kenya who is 29 years old, oldest of 3 siblings won the marathon in 2:23:23 hrs which was also her debut marathon. It was the hottest day race history since the time the marathon was moved to November in 1986.
